This was easily Daddy's favorite Easter ever. Kaya came to "our house in the city" on Friday, and we spent the next couple days just getting ready for Easter madness. We cleaned the house, dyed eggs, learned the words to "Peter Cottontail" and "Little Bunny Foo-Foo" and had a blast. When Easter Eve came along, Dad fell fast asleep with Kaya, but luckily was woken up at 2am by Rachie, who helped Dad hide eggs & treats all over the house. After that, we spent another hour just making a cute little easter card from Mr. Bunny himself out of construction paper.
Easter morning was a total blast. Kaya was so excited - rushing around the house collecting eggs & candy. A funny moment came when we all sat down to eat our dyed eggs, and she cracked one open, only to wonder aloud "Where are all the treats?" When I explained that these were real eggs, she told me that she thought the Easter Bunny put treats inside them. Didn't seem to matter. There was plenty of sugar to be had, and lots of fun.
Dad & Kaya spent the rest of the day playing with toys the bunny had brought, snuggling, reading books, and dancing to Ella Fitzgerald on the old record player. It wasn't anything fancy, but the happiest holiday I can remember in a very long time.
