'Look Dad, No Training Wheels' : Kaya Learns to Ride Her Bike!

August 9th, 2011

Kaya learned to ride a bike last night.
It was such an amazing moment for me as a dad.
It was even more amazing to experience riding a bike for the first time -
Through Kaya's little brown eyes as she rode around sans training-wheels
Free as a bird in big swooping loops around Library Square.
'You can let go, Dad, I can do this.' she said - & took flight
I asked her how it feels to have just learned to ride a bike for your first time?
'Awwwessommmme!!' she shouts - quickly lifting a hand to wave & ring her bicycle bell.
And I remember too, in part - the first ride
And thousands of beautiful rides since.
This one, however - was probably my favorite experience of all.

So excited for my little one. So many pictures to post and stories to tell, I don't know if / when I'll catch up. Kaya just keeps making these rad little moments happen in life, and I just can't seem to record and share them all. It's a blessing of abundance - I'm a very lucky dad.

This was just all too good to delay in sharing though - enjoy! Hooray for Kaya!

*additional details :
-Kaya has given the name of 'Little Sister' to her bike, and addresses her as such.
-Kaya thinks pink and blue are the bestest colors for a bike.
-So far, she's had no major wipe outs, and just one scrape on her knee to brag about.
